EEG analysis
BM-Science offers its expertise for potential collaborations within the Framework Programme 7. Our main skills are in basic research through electro-/magneto-encephalographic (EEG/MEG) measures in neurophysiology, cognitive brain research, neuroscience. Conventional ways of EEG/MEG analysis have serious limitations due to highly non-stationary nature of EEG/MEG signal that is well established currently. We are the developers and holders of the know-how on the newly developed quantitative (Q) EEG/MEG methodologies. These techniques overcome the conventional QEEG/MEG limitations; account the non-stationary nature of EEG/MEG-signal; do not contain averaging techniques; and have special tests for non-random/non-occasional nature of the signal. One family of techniques is concentrated on the probability-classification and analysis of interrelations of short-term spectral patterns, while another distinguishes the segments of quasi-stationarity in the signal which correspond to separate brain operations and estimates the inherent synchronization between them functional connectivity of the cortex (this measure is distant from coherence, correlation, and phase synchrony measures). We hold supporting complementary skills in bioinformatics and mathematics. We are looking for partners already with research projects within FP7 and that our participation would be beneficial to both the project and to developments in our area of knowledge. We particularly - but not exclusively - seek clinicians (neurology, psychiatry) , academics, behavioral geneticists, and those involved in pharmacology industry (psychotropic drug development). Particular fields of overlapping interest are: clinical diagnosis and therapy; drug and novel target discovery; cognitive brain research; behavioral genetics; neurophysiology; cognitive neuroscience; sleep and consciousness studies.
